Activity Department
Hello from activities! Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine. I am happy to announce that I have taken on the role as Recreation Program Director. I first started working at Winslow in February of 2017. I have had many roles within Winslow. I was a dietary aid, CNA, shower aid, activities assistant, and as of April accepted the activity director position. I took a 75-hour Activity Professional Qualification Course through Iowa Health Care Association that started in January and recently finished on May 8th. I am proud to say that I love what I do. I have been incorporating new and fun activity program ideas, one of those ideas that has been a hit is “Happy Hour”. During happy hour residents are provided a snack, alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages, and are encouraged to socialize with both staff and residents. This has provided a great opportunity for new friendships! I am always open to new ideas for activity programs. My office is located at the end of the West hallway on the right. Feel free to pop in any time to say hi or give suggestions.
As the weather is getting warmer, there will be more activities done outside. Sunscreen will be provided when outside to protect residents skin. We have a patio in the front of the building and family/friends are more than welcome to come visit and go outside for some fresh air! We also have a playground in the back on the building for the kids to play on.
During the month of June, we will be celebrating National Nursing Assistants Week, Father’s Day, Flag Day, and the start of summer. National Nursing Assistants Week is June 13th-20th. The residents will be creating gifts for the CNA’s to say thanks for all that they do. In honor of Flag Day residents will be making flags to hang in their room. To celebrate Father’s Day, we will be having a special event with donuts, beverages, music. This will take place on Saturday, June 8 at 2:00 pm. The first day of summer is June 21st. To bring in the summer season we will be doing a summer art project. We look forward to sunshine, blue skies, and warm weather!
